The Next Step

For some time now, with the help and backing of a significant number of Celtic supporters, we have had numerous discussions with representatives of both Celtic Football Club and The Lindley Group regarding the match day catering at Celtic Park. This began with our fans survey, and has since been continued through both large supporters meetings and smaller meetings involving only myself and the representatives mentioned above.

Many have speculated that we will only truly be able to judge any improvements (or the lack of) in 2013/14, as it is difficult  to dramatically alter a catering operation as large as that of Celtic Park mid-season. To a large extent, I agree with this sentiment. This does not mean, however, that we will not be continuing our current efforts as the 2012/13 season begins to draw to a close, with only a few home matches remaining.

For this reason, for the next few weeks, we will aim to compile a list of comments and testimonies from any supporters who wish to submit them, and these will be sent directly to Chief Executive Peter Lawwell, as well as a testimony from myself. The aim of this document will be, primarily, to update Mr Lawwell and the Celtic board with regards to the real time opinions of the Celtic support and, secondarily, to thank both Celtic Football Club and The Lindley Group for taking the time to discuss the concerns of supporters with myself and others.

In the next few weeks, once the post-split fixtures have been announced and dates arranged, I will attend another small meeting with the Club and Lindley, before another larger supporters meeting is held towards the end of the season. If anyone is interested in attending such a meeting, please feel free to contact me, and although demand often outweighs the spaces available, we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all with regards to your continuing support. Our efforts will continue until such a time that the majority of the Celtic support feel they are happy with all of the elements of the catering service provided to them.

Comments and testimonials can be made by leaving a comment below, or by emailing us directly at maleysbhoysenquiries@hotmail.co.uk – they can be as long or as short as you like, and all I would ask is that they are your honest opinions, regardless of whether they are positive, negative, or somewhere in between.

  1. Got a pie yesterday steak and gravy burned completly and solid wont be buying anything else

  2. I travel from Loughborough and will never buy anything in the main stand ever again as it is of poor quality and never cooked properly i.e. either burnt or undercooked. Also after a 5 hour drive I dont feel that I should be ripped off by the club paying extortionate costs for of a cup of bovril and a pie.

  3. All I would question is why there are so many burger vans outside celtic park, surely if the catering was up to standard the people buying from the vans would rather put their money into celtic. It would seem a lot of work has to go into the catering to entice more people to use it. I would also say that McDonalds and KFC are also extremely busy on match days, it would seem that celtic park is the last place the fans will eat. If the price and the food is good I am sure the fans would buy into spending their money with Celtic rather than with outside companies. Lots of money to be made here, celtic are missing a trick.

  5. i am amazed that even in 2013 the catering is still so poor. some fans, including myself travel hundreds of miles to go to games and there is only the option of fat or sugar inside and outside the stadium. As someone who is in catering and privy to all the wholesale deals, i am appalled that the fans are treated so badly. i cannot see why, unless celtic charge excessive prices for concessions, that the catering has to be of such a poor standard and the prices so high. With the commonwealth games coming next year there is an opportunity for celtic and temporary concessions to become flagships for healthier eating or at least choice.
The whole system could be designed to be more customer focused, offering a better quality for a reasonable price.

  6. The solutions simple. Get Greggs, McDonald’s etc outlets in the stadium and replace the awful pie stalls we currently have.

  7. The pies were fab yesterday

  8. I never buy anything from celtic park , great football ,great atmosphere , shit food , they need to get a subway or mcdonalds in that staium , or a local bussiness , the prices are a joke aswell , 7 quid for a drink and pie that cost less than £1 to give out unprofited , absolute joke , I pay 500 a year (not including transport) to the games , by the time a get there and all is said and done I have very little left never mind buying a drink and food ect , I would rather wait and goto the chippy outside the park where get a full sausage supper for 3.50 half the price of a hot drink and stone hard pie , they should class them as bricks and security should make people eat them in the inside sections , they could kill a zombie or 10

  9. Match day experience at Celtic park is of a very poor standard..rip off prices for generaly poor fare..match pricing has to change..i didnt renew this year ..far too expensive to watch a poor standard of football..grow a pair peter and stand up for our family or leave!!

  10. Quality is very disappointing, pricing is outrageous, but my main complaint is how slow the staff operate and how they often see, not to know what is expected of them!

  11. *seem

  12. Mr Lawwell, what member of your family would you sell a carton of Ribena to for £1.80?

    ‘Celtic Family’ my arse

  13. I have not eaten anything from Celtic Park catering for 10 years, everything they sell is a reflection of the poor diet that has made Scotland the sick man of europe. What must european fans think of the standard of food when they come to celtic park. would love to help if i can.

  14. also did the SFA/SPL/Scottish government not set up a study to look at catering in all SPL grounds (among other things like ticket coast and overall experience) about 2 years ago. were the findings of this ever released???
