Current Bid: £40

As many of you will know, “Maley’s Bhoys” is supporting Motor Neurone Disease Scotland (MNDS) this season. In the 1980’s, my grandfather died of this disease, several years before I was born. For this reason, I have decided to donate an item myself to our cause this year, and I am therefore placing this programme up for auction. All of the money raised will go to our appeal for MNDS. We raised £130 from our first auction (the Paul Telfer match worn shirt), and I hope we can add to it with the sale of this rare piece.

The item is a programme from the 1982 friendly tournament held in the Netherlands between Celtic, Feyenoord, Arsenal and Austria Wien (Austria Vienna). It is signed by approximately 25 players, both internally and externally.

On the outside, it is signed by Tommy Burns, Billy McNeill, Murdo McLeod, and Danny McGrain, amongst many others. Inside, there are signatures of more Celtic players and staff, including Willie McStay, Roy Aitken, and George McCluskey, as well as some members of the Arsenal side. It is also signed AGAIN by Tommy Burns, with a big signature (pictured below) with “Celtic FC” written under it. Every signature is hand signed in pen, and whilst I’m sure some other people got some autographs at the tournament, I doubt there are many if any which have the same combination of signatures as those seen here.

The programme is in good condition, with some very minor fraying around the edges. There are also very light pencil ticks inside next to the lists of players who took to the field on the day in question. Other than this, it is in great condition.

The auction will end at 10pm, on Wednesday 15th August 2012, giving you all a week to bid should you wish to do so.

Please note, any winning bidder will be required to pay for the postage of the item (or I could meet them at Celtic Park before a match to deliver it by hand).

For those of you who would like to donate but do not have the funds to bid on an item like this, I would urge you to hold off for a while, as in the coming weeks we will be launching an interesting section of our fundraising appeal which you will all be able to get involved in should you wish to do so.

Thank you all for your continuing and fantastic support.

    • Hey Tom,

Cheers for that. I had a bid of £40 for the programme a couple of hours earlier on Twitter, so I’m afraid that lad currently has the highest bid. I was out so I couldn’t update the article until I got in.

There’s still a good few days left on the auction so feel free to make a slightly higher bid should you like to.

      Thanks again,
      Sorry for the inconvenience,
      Cheers!

  2. No bother, will keep an eye on the bids.
