Welcome To Maley’s Bhoys
Above is the all conquering Celtic side of 1907-08, with the Glasgow Merchants’ Chairty Cup, Scottish Cup and the Glasgow Cup proudly sat before them. At this point in time, Celtic Football Club also held the accolade of being Scottish League Champions, well on their way to an unprecedented six titles in a row which would be rounded off in 1910. The team read as follows (from left to right): Front Row; Hamilton, McLeod, Loney, Hay, Quinn, McNair, Middle Row; Young, Somers, McMenemy, Adams, Mitchell, Weir. Willie Maley, then manager, stands furthest left in the middle row.
For years I’ve never been particularly sure what to put on the front page of our website, as articles and discussions are housed elsewhere. However, I feel an ever-variety of old Celtic sides is apt indeed. After all, “most of the football greats have passed through Parkhead’s gates, to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.”
